The Audi Multitronic CVT gearbox is being retired
Audi make some great cars, but a number of them are spoiled by the woeful CVT gearbox. The theory is that as the CVT ‘box, which varies transmission ratios infinitely and keeps the engine working in the right rev range, is more economical and more efficient. But CVT boxes are horrible.
Mazda will bring the Miata of our dreams to the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the United Kingdom on June 28. The Mazda MX-5 GT concept will run in the “First Glance” class for the legendary hillclimb. Mazda says the GT concept is inspired by its MX-5 GT race program, and its debut at Goodwood is meant to gauge customer reaction to the car.
The power junkies over at Hennessey have uploaded a YouTube video of the company's Venom GT hypercar. The Lotus-based GT sprints from 0-to-228 mph in 19.96 seconds, or the time it takes to update your Facebook status. Behind the driver of the Venom GT is a Corvette ZR1-sourced LS9 V8.
